Using puppets to encourage language output

Puppets are extremely motivating to young students. Even students who are reluctant speakers will talk to a puppet. Each puppet should have its own personality! I use puppets to demonstrate activities and games, and to create funny situations to introduce language chunks. Students also love to make the puppet speak.
In the following video you can see second graders using Lobo (who is always tired) to ask how they are feeling.
