Traditional methods or technology?

Both! I have been teaching for about 20 years, and I am still amazed at all the innovations that have happened in these past years, and how they can be applied to teaching languages. Gone are the days when I had to spend hours drawing, cutting and laminating. With a couple of clicks I can access a world of images, find language videos and videos that show the culture of the targeted countries. It has made my teaching preparation so much easier...  But, we cannot forget traditional methods: a good teacher needs a collection of real objects, that kids can touch and use in "real life" situations: plastic food, stuffed animals, clothing, and puppets!
Another essential component is stories. In the past, when I could not find a story that fit with my curriculum, I would create my own, a quite elaborate process, but enjoyed greatly by my students. I still have my beautiful cut out fridge and food, and the house I created with an empty cardboard box, that I use for puppet plays shared with me by a colleague and friend.
But, now that I have Smartboards, I can also create stories that are still interactive and take less time to prepare. I made one to go with our clothing unit about a little bear. It is available at Teachers pay Teachers.
The issue I faced with this one was that I needed a bit more flexibility with the drawings, so this is what I came up with: I drew the clothing and the little bear on a piece of paper, took pictures that I altered in a Word document. I saved the drawings as pictures and then I inserted them in the Notebook story.
